Summer Associate Program
At Bazil McNulty we have a 12-week summer program open to 1L's and 2L's. To maximize the value of the summer associate program we limit our program to a select few candidates. The program provides the summer associate with a mentor with whom he or she is able to have constant open dialogue. There are opportunities to observe court proceedings and meet with clients. There is a strong emphasis on the transition from student to lawyer. We strive to have our program exemplify life after law school.
There are many sponsored social events to encourage the summer associates to become better acquainted with the associates in an informal setting. Some of these events include a barbecue and formal dinners.
In-house educational programs provide summer associates with exposure to specialized practice areas. Students will leave with a better understanding of an area of law that they may not have previously considered.
The compensation for summer associates is competitive with rates being paid by mid to large size Philadelphia based firms.
Quotes from past summer associates:
"The summer program at Bazil McNulty was a wonderful experience which truly made me feel like a member of the firm. The partners, associates, and staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and were more than willing to answer all my questions throughout the summer experience. I was given a sizeable, but manageable, workload from the very beginning and the firm's mentoring program made sure I never felt overwhelmed. In addition, the occasional firm outing was an added perk to what was already a remarkable summer program."
-Justin Fortescue, Summer Associate 2005 Villanova University School of Law
"From the beginning, I was assigned a workload comparable with that of a 1st year associate, but with an open door policy and a friendly and helpful staff I never felt overburdened. The summer program provided me with the ability to immediately contribute because I was exposed to all facets of an associate's work. Even with all the responsibility, the partners made sure to provide the full firm experience by providing happy hours and other social gatherings throughout the summer."
-Brad Barron, Summer Associate 2004 Villanova University School of Law
"I was given a lot of responsibility from the start, but I was never left in the dark as everyone from partners to paralegals were more than willing to help. The work load was comparable to that of a first-year associate as the summer program is aimed at producing graduates who will have the ability to hit the ground running. With that said, the perks such as barbecues, weekend trips to Atlantic City, and the occasional Happy Hour, truly helped to round out the total firm experience."
-David I. Presley, Summer Associate 2003 Villanova University School of Law
We consider our summer program a great success. To date, 100% of the summer associates who were offered positions have accepted.
